Former England captain and presently the captain of Newcastle United Alan Shearer, got the 200th goal of his career at the FA Cup third-round game at St.James' Park. Over 40 years of age, Shearer, who is already retired from international football, has decided to announce his complete retirement by the end of this season. A very happy new year for the CHAMPS!
The Blues continue amazingly after beginning thier new year in great fashion as they defeat West Ham at Upton Park. Not a very comfortable match for England mid-fielder Frank Lampard as he got booed every time he got the ball at his feet, but this wasn't enough to put this player down as he got Chelsea ahead in the 24th minute. A mistake by skipper John Terry made West Ham return in the game at the start of the second half as Harewood thumped the ball into the net, partially saved by Cech. Hernan Crespo and Didier Drogba got Chelsea back up as they scored one goal each to make the score 3-1 till the end of the match. A fine performance by West Ham keeper Roy Caroll
